I've been active most of my life. As a teenager, I enjoyed cycling, running and jumping over anything in my way. Growing up on a cattle farm, we threw hay bales and carried heavy pails of grain daily to feed the cattle.
I had a desk job for years and, in my mid-40s, was diagnosed with high blood pressure, which was the impetus for getting fit and building muscle. It became apparent that I was very strong, and here began my love of competitive powerlifting.
In 2019, I sustained a life-altering concussion in a fall on an icy sidewalk. My recovery involved the assistance of vestibular therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology and exercise therapy. Over the year of recovery, I elected to leave my corporate career and focus on healing, as every time I tried to return, the symptoms returned, only worse.
During recovery, an exercise therapist was one of the many people who helped me to regain my sense of self and strength. I was in awe of her work and committed to becoming an exercise therapist to give others the help and hope I'd received.
I returned to school, and well, here I am!
I am married to my best friend, Kevin. We are a blended family of seven children, six grandchildren, and our dog. I enjoy mountain hiking, cycling, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, and lifting weights. The people I love, and the activities I'm passionate about are why health and wellness are a priority.
