Vestibular exercises during recovery

#7 - Taking Care of Your Brain - As we age, our brains can change. We may have experienced misplacing our keys, forgetting why we went upstairs or needing help remembering what was on the grocery list.

There is normal ageing which we will each encounter, and there are more concerning issues such as Alzheimer's and dementia.

Cognition is similar to blood pressure in that it is affected by what we do in our day-to-day lives

#6 - March 2022 - 60 Is a Good Reason to Begin Lifting Weights - There is a myth that we don’t need to exercise as we age. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have no idea how that notion came to be.

#5 - December 2021 - The Inspiration for This Journey into Exercise Therapy - She taught that a good foundation is critical when building a strong body.  She taught me to begin in a different place, one that is more gentle and more personalized.  Mobility and then strength.

She is the inspiration for my second career.  Thank you, Carina.

#4 - December 2021 - Just Show Up - We all have a few people in our lives that inspire us to live well. My Dad was one of those people.

My Dad was a farmer, a simple man of few words that listened carefully.   He didn’t always know what to say, or the words to use, but he was there.  Just there.   I learned from him that just showing up, is one of the most important things we can do in every aspect of our lives.

#3 - December 2021 - The Unexpected Entrepreneur - A little bit of my story was featured in a book called “The Unexpected Entrepreneur” by Noreen Music. Here’s the excerpt she included in the book:

It is common for those that have suffered a concussion and have persistent symptoms to have cognitive challenges. These include trouble with memory, reading, and doing math and our thinking becomes quite linear. Patients are often referred to an occupational therapist to assist them with relearning how to manage these day-to-day activities.

#2 - December 2021 - My Three Sons - Visiting my grown children and seeing the lives that they have created, is one of the most beautiful moments for me as a parent.   Meeting the people that they call their friends, staying in their homes, watching the activities they enjoy, sharing a meal at the table or visiting restaurants they often eat at is incredibly special.

#1 - December 2021 - This is the story of one of my greatest accomplishments - The Journey to Recovery from Post Concussion.

I wasn’t going to get my old life back, but I could reinvent myself.   I am grateful every day for the people that helped me to recover.
